About EvansCinemas
EvansCinemas began in 2005 because a group of preteens saw the film Jackass 2 and wanted to imitate it. Despite the "do not imitate" warning in the film, my friends and I set out on a mission to perform and film dangerous stunts for laughs. As it turns out, we were all too scared to actually do anything dangerous, and our performances turned into small skits. These skits evolved into plots, and not long after, we were making scripted short films.
Any chance we got; we were filming our next masterpiece. We invested in cheap props, costume pieces, and video editing software. We were all amazed the first time I added intro and outro credits to a film. This was quickly dwarfed by our excitement when I was able to apply our first visual effect, lightsabers!
A few years into producing these independent shorts, I discovered the Epic Shorts Film Festival at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. The Film Festival was hosted by the Digital Media Institute (DMI). I entered the film festival, and though I didn't win, I discovered and decided to enroll in the DMI program.
DMI dramatically improved my filmmaking skills. The program not only furthered my knowledge of visual effects, but also taught me graphic design, 3D modeling and animation, and programs like Photoshop. I finished the program and obtained an Associate of Applied Science in Digital Media, Animation, and Design.
Since then, I have continued making films, including a feature-length film, promotional videos for the Oklahoma State University School of Architecture, and a series of teaching aid videos titled "Steel Reel: Interviews with Industry Professionals" for the American Institute of Steel Construction.
My experience includes all aspects of production, including pre-production script writing, casting and location scouting, as well as post-production color grading, visual effects, audio mixing and more.
